Since opening in 2014, Hanna Kogan has been operating the steadily growing Waterfront Gourmet Cafe & Deli. Now spread across three locations, Waterfront Gourmet offers a comfortable location to sit down and catch up over flavourful creative takes on deli classics.
Starting as a spark in the pursuit of putting her personal touch on sacred classics, Gourmet Waterfront puts emphasis on the technique of familiar, but different. After studying food in Bali, Indonesia, Hanna immigrated to America in search of a deeper experience with new flavour. Settling in Philadelphia, she began recreating deli staples from across the country. Finally, she brought Waterfront Gourmet to reality, a cozy cafe situated along the beautiful waterfront of Penn’s Landing. For several years now, creative takes on sandwiches with connoisseur coffee have become the beloved way to wrap up a walk along Philadelphia’s waterfront.
Interested in the comfort food of the old school deli, Waterfront Gourmet brings an intersection of cuisines including Mexican, Cajun, and Mediterranean to smoked meat traditions. Hanna’s sandwiches present as classic bread, panini, wrap, and hoagie, with fresh and unexpected ingredients, even offering fresh bagels for breakfast. On the salad side of things, clever concoctions enjoy toying with usual fair by adding new ideas like crispy wontons in the Asian Chop or covering the classic Cobb with mango pineapple vinaigrette.
