What they’ve got: By far one of the coolest spots we’ve come across. This restaurant gives away all of its profits to provide meals, counseling, medical and personal care services, to the city’s homeless. Their lunch menu offers heart-warming soups, sandwiches and desserts.

What you’re getting:

  • Smoked Matzo Ball Soup ($7)
  • Lentil Sloppy Joe with Avocado and Fried Onion ($9)
  • Patty Melt – Jarlsberg, mushrooms, onions and their ‘everything’ sauce ($11)

What they’ve got: Think amazing sandwiches but sub the bread for plantains. This Venezuelan joint is perfect for a quick bite.

What you’re getting:

  • Reina Pepiada Arepa – Shredded chicken with avocado and gouda cheese, in a corn tortilla-like wrap ($8.25)
  • Pabellón Arepa – Shredded beef, black beans, fried sweet plantain, white cheese ($9.00)  
  • Patacon Pinton – Fried sweet plantain sandwich with shredded beef, black beans, white cheese and green mayo ($8.50)

What they’ve got: If you like a stellar wrap, they have you covered. Fresh ingredients and a solid offering, there’s something for everyone here.

What you’re getting:

  • Thai Peanut Chicken Wrap – Comes with broccoli, lettuce and their homemade Thai peanut sauce ($8.50)
  • Thai Peanut Popper Wrap – Tofu with broccoli, carrots, lettuce, & our homemade Thai peanut sauce ($8.50)

What they’ve got: Fresh fish, and gorgeous presentation – Pod is a superb choice for Japanese fare.

What they’ve got: You can’t do Philly without the cheesesteak and you might find it hard to find anything better. Think 100% USDA domestic rib-eye and hand rolled bread.

  • The Block – Ribeye steak, portobellos, fried onion, green peppers and sharp provolone ($13.00)
  • Portobello Cheesesteak – Portobellos, roasted red peppers, sautéed spinach and fresh mozzarella ($10.75)

What they’ve got: Named one of the country’s top 25 best new restaurants of 2014 by GQ, the Vetri Family is dedicated to making authentic Neapolitan pizzas. Everything is made in-house and from scratch, and the pizzas are baked in a wood-fired Renato oven. Couldn’t get any better.

What you’re getting:

  • Margherita Pizze – Basil, mozzarella, tomato sauce ($16.00)
  • Crudo Pizze – Prosciutto crudo, bufala mozzarella, parmigiano ($20.75)
  • Rotolo – A crispy pinwheel of pizza dough filled with ricotta and house-made mortadella topped with pistachio pesto. $5.25
